Candle Care FAQs
First Burn Info
For the best by, allow your candle to melt evenly across the surface by burning it for at least 2 hours on the first use. This helps prevent tunneling and ensures an even burn in the future!
Why is my wick popping once I have lit it ?
This usually happens due to moisture or air pockets in the wax or wick, often from humidity or if the candle hasn’t fully cured. It’s not harmful, but can affect how the candle burns.
Tips to prevent it:
- Store candles in a cool, dry place
- Trim the wick to 5mm before each burn
- Let the wax melt fully across the top each time

My Candle is Tunnelling !
Tunneling occurs when a candle is extinguished before reaching its optimal burn time, leaving a ring of unmelted wax around the edges. This prevents your candle from burning evenly, reducing its lifespan and making it harder to relight. To avoid this, always let the entire top layer of wax melt to a full, even pool before extinguishing. This ensures a smooth, consistent burn every time!
My Candle has already Tunelled
Don't worry there's an easy fix! Wrap a piece of foil around the top of the jar, leaving a small opening in the center to expose the wick. Light the candle and let it burn the foil will trap heat, creating an oven-like effect that melts the remaining wax along the edges. To prevent tunneling in the future, always allow your candle to burn until the entire top layer has melted on the first use this creates a memory ring for an even burn every time.
Why is my candle sweating ?
It you notice small beads or an oily layer on the surface of your candle, it may be sweating a natural occurrence in 100% soy wax candles. This happens because soy wax is sensitive to temperature changes, causing natural oils to separate.
Rest assured, sweating does not affect the quality or performance of your candle. Simply wipe away any excess oil with a tissue. To help prevent this, store your candles away from drafts, direct sunlight, and fluctuating temperatures.
